Embracing change as a leader is one of the true telling moments of your career. Are you using a difficult situation as an opportunity or are you floundering around for answers?

Use Change as an Opportunity

Facing change as a leader can be difficult and intimidating. At the beginning of the pandemic, we saw many leaders pause and freeze. In anger and trepidation, they faced uncertainty and in return, we saw a lot of companies suffer cutbacks and even failure.

However, there were many others who saw the change as an unforeseen matter of course and adapted accordingly.

This doesn’t mean that everyone saw great success within the pandemic, but for those companies that adapted, they were able to utilize the opportunities before them to continue operations and alter their strategy accordingly.

Leadership During Change

A period of large change, where the markets are shifting dramatically around you and there are many things happening outside of your control, will really show you what kind of leader you are.

A leader who doesn’t have trust in their team or understands how to delegate will find themselves struggling to remain afloat.

Other leaders realize when they’re stretched too thin or have their hand in too many baskets and are able to back up a little bit. Whatever the case, you must have strong leadership during a period of change and so this is often the time when people will have a grand “Aha” moment.

Also, consider how your team views you. Are you a guiding compass of passion and determination or does your team feel unsure of your standpoint and disconnected from you. It’s never too late to change how they see you and to improve your reputation.
